Skyhopper

About the Project

SkyHopper is a compact space telescope for astronomical observations at near-infrared wavelengths from a 12U CubeSat. The SkyHopper project was led by the University of Melbourne and involved a consortium of 16 international institutes including AAO at Macquarie University.

In the Skyhopper project the AAO was responsible for the telescope payload which had thermal, mechanical, and optical interfaces to the instrument disperser, detector, and satellite bus. During the preliminary design phase, the AAO developed the optical and the opto-mechanical design for a three mirror anastigmat with a highly athermalised mounting structure.
